SVDP LAUNCH APPEAL FOR THE PHILLIPINES

In light of the current tragedy in the Philippines Dr Michael Thio, International President General, has today requested that all countries join in solidarity with the Society of St Vincent de Paul in the Philippines to respond to disaster reflief in the wake of the powerful typhoon that struck the capital city of Tacloban and its surrounding villages in Leyte province, Central Philippines on Friday 8 November 2013.

Councils and Conferences have always been very generous in supporting international disaster appeals in the past and we are sure that this appeal for our suffering and displaced brothers and sisters will be supported in the same way. All funds received will be sent to CGI and placed in the “General Disaster Fund” and will be administered by the Commission for International Aid and Development (CIAD) of CGI in conjunction with SSVP in the  Phillipines. The appeal is now open and will close 16 December…
